This one might ruffle a few feathers

I think there's an important conversation hiding underneath this picture.
Modern medicine can do incredible things. Medications, procedures and emergency care save lives every single day.
But here's the question I wish we asked more often:
What are we doing BEFORE we need another prescription?
For many chronic metabolic conditions, medication may be one part of treatment, but it doesn't replace the foundations of health.
- What are we eating?
- Are we maintaining muscle?
- Are we moving after meals?
- Are we sleeping enough?
- Are we paying attention to glucose and insulin resistance?
- Are we hydrating?
- Are we giving our bodies the nutritional support they need?
I don't think the conversation should be medicine OR lifestyle.
I think it should be: “What can I do to improve the health of my body while working with my healthcare team?”
Because taking ownership of your health doesn't mean throwing away your prescriptions.
It means asking better questions.
It means learning what your numbers mean.
It means addressing the habits and metabolic factors you can influence.
And sometimes, as health improves, a healthcare provider may determine that medications need to be adjusted. That's a medical decision, not something to do on your own.
I'm curious what you think: do you think our healthcare system spends enough time teaching people how to improve their health BEFORE disease progresses?
